DonJoy Defiance® – custom knee orthosis
DonJoy Defiance® has been the world’s best-selling custom knee brace for over 20 years. Over 2 million Defiance braces have been prescribed to elite professional athletes, amateurs, and people with active lifestyles.
The Defiance PRO orthosis dominates the market with the best strength-to-weight ratio. Professional athletes choose the Defiance PRO for maximum safety and freedom of movement.
The orthosis frame weighs less than 600 grams.
The orthosis is made to order with a delivery time of up to 2 weeks.
The lining of the orthosis is made of a new, soft, moisture-wicking and antibacterial fabric.
The orthosis frame can be chosen in any of the 30 color options offered.
The orthosis’ silicone condyle pads comfortably hold the orthosis in place, while the memory-foam condyle pads adapt to the shape of the knee.
The orthosis straps are attached inside it, so they move independently of the orthosis and fit snugly against the foot, creating a lighter, more comfortable feel.
Specially designed orthosis strap ends are soft and flexible, but hold the straps firmly in place.
DonJoy® technology sets the Defience Pro orthosis apart from its competitors. DonJoy® studies human body mechanics, listens to athletes, consults with doctors, and utilizes the latest technological innovations. DonJoy® orthoses combine the most advanced technology, the most durable materials, and the highest craftsmanship. All DonJoy® knee ligament orthoses are designed to provide excellent medial support for MCL (medial collateral ligament) and LCL (lateral collateral ligament) indications. DonJoy® is the most commonly prescribed custom orthosis in sports.
Clinically proven ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) protection: 4-point system
DonJoy was the first manufacturer on the market to offer the revolutionary 4-point system:
- Helps reduce the strain on the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) by at least 50% (1,2,3)
- Significantly reduces tibial rotation compared to groups without orthoses and with orthoses without lateral supports (4)
- Increases patient safety after ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction (5)
Using a special strap system, DonJoy technology helps provide posterior femoral loading in the event of PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) injuries.
DonJoy orthoses stand out because they do not restrict activity, but at the same time provide a sense of security.
4-point system:
❶Front thigh frame
❷ Posterior tibial frame
❸ The lower leg strap pushes the thigh bone forward
❹The anterior tibia strap applies pressure evenly to prevent anterior tibia movement.
You can choose one of the offered options for the orthosis!
DonJoy® FourcePoint™ Hinge
FourcePoint hinges increase bending angles, reducing anterior knee forces and stress on the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and thus significantly reducing the risk of injury. (6,7,8,9)
- Helps keep both knees out of danger (6,8,9)
- NO significant performance limitations (6)
- Improves joint mechanics of both knees after anterior cruciate ligament surgery (6,9)
FourcePoint ACL
This patented hinge design helps protect the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) by incorporating a damping mechanism in the last 25° of extension to help keep the knee in a risk position and increase the load on the posterior tibia.
FourcePoint Plus
The Plus Hinge provides anterior cruciate ligament protection thanks to the FourcePoint hinge’s reinforced outer steel plate, ideal for high-impact or collision sports.
Adjustable OA hinge
The custom OA frame offers a 1 to 7 degree relief angle. The telescopic hinge helps provide an additional relief angle of up to 3 degrees.
Memory-foam condyle pads are included to increase patient comfort and compliance.
Standard low profile hinge
The polycentric hinge stabilizes the knee joint while adapting to natural knee kinematics. The polycentric hinge also maximizes the anterior/posterior and varus/valgus stabilizing forces of the orthosis. It can be used in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), combined instability, MCL or LCL (lateral ligament) indications.
