RAL takes care of you – safe storage and transportation of LinX and Guardian systems in winter
As colder weather approaches, the RAL team would like to remind our customers of important recommendations when using the LinX continuous glucose monitoring (CGMM) system, Medtronic Guardian™ 3 and Guardian™ 4 sensors .
These sensors are designed for use in the temperature range from +5°C to +40°C , so it is especially important to pay attention to their proper storage and transportation during the winter.
Cold can negatively affect the operation of sensors - too low a temperature can reduce the sensitivity of the sensor , damage internal components or shorten its operating time . Therefore, we recommend storing and transporting sensors at a temperature not lower than +2°C .
To ensure safer delivery in winter conditions, we will now deliver LinX and Guardian sensor orders in our online store with SmartPost , which uses parcel lockers indoors – for example, in supermarkets. SmartPost offers extensive parcel locker coverage throughout Latvia.
Storing the sensor at an optimal temperature (not lower than +4 degrees) will reduce the risk of the sensors getting cold and being damaged. We also invite you to choose an alternative solution – to receive the sensors at RAL stores – in Riga, Brīvības Street 85, 5th floor (09:00 – 17:00) or in Liepāja, Kuršu Street 10 (entrance from Rožu Street), having previously agreed on the time of collection.
We also encourage you to be cautious when receiving a shipment:
- from the parcel terminal to your home , carry the sensors in a bag , not in an open bag – this will help maintain the optimal temperature;
- do not leave the sensors in the car for a long time if the air temperature is below 0°C;
- If the sensor has been in the cold for an extended period of time, wait 30–60 minutes for it to adjust to room temperature before using .
If you notice that the sensor is not working properly or is damaged , stop using it and contact our specialists - we will help you find a solution.
We will take care of your health and the safe use of technology even during the winter months!
