Advantages of CGM:

A glucose meter only provides a brief “snapshot” of your glucose levels at a single point in time. A CGM device provides a more comprehensive view of your glucose levels’ trends. A CGM gives you:

• direction of glucose level changes
• early notification of expected lows and highs
• alerts for low or high levels during sleep or at any time
• insight into how food, exercise, medications, and illnesses affect your diabetes

CGM can provide valuable information at crucial times of the day, including before and during exercise, before driving, before taking tests/exams, and in the middle of the night.

It is still necessary to check blood glucose levels with a fingerstick before adjusting therapy.
