Allevyn Gentle Border bandage absorbs exudate and promotes the optimal moist environment for wound healing, reducing the risk of maceration. The self-adhering, perforated silicone gel wound layer allows exudate to enter the foam layer. The self-adhesive silicone layer is gentle, suitable for use on fragile skin , and allows the dressing to be applied, repositioned and removed easily. The hydrocellular foam layer absorbs exudate away from the wound. The outer waterproof, breathable film layer allows the exudate to evaporate, preventing leakage and bacterial contamination.

The dressing consists of soft, non-woven cellulose ethyl sulphonate cements coated with silver ions. The dressing turns into a clear, cool gel on contact with the wound exudate. This gel absorbs and blocks slough and provides the moist environment needed for wound healing, as well as promoting autolysis of necrotic tissue. The silver in the dressing kills a wide range of bacteria and reduces the risk of infection. The bandage’s perfect gel structure does not dissolve and can be easily removed in one piece, reducing pain and trauma when changing bandages.
